Educational Philosophy

AIS is an IB World School offering the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP), College Board Certified, accredited by Cambridge International Examinations whose programs and qualifications are compatible with other curricula and ERB certified. We have adopted best international practices to create a holistic curriculum which harnesses the creative talents of our students.

At AIS, we offer a comprehensive, rigorous curriculum that is carefully designed to engage students and give them a solid foundation from which they can achieve high levels of academic and personal attainment. These teaching methods and materials will encourage our students to develop critical thinking skills, which will eventually help them think creatively.

The Scope and Sequence and related curricular are based on the Christian foundation of the school. No denominational doctrine will be promoted. Teachers will discuss differences in basic Christian doctrine, thus helping children to become discerning readers and to understand ways to approach differences in culture and beliefs. We believe this unique approach of learning gets students ready for the real world.

At AIS, our focus is to enable all students to reach their fullest intellectual, moral, creative and physical potential. We also believe in encouraging our students to take increasing responsibility for their educational experiences as they mature. Through study skills, organization, and attention to process, students begin to develop the initiative, self-reliance and independence essential for making the most of their years at AIS.

In support of our Mission, the AIS professional community holds the following educational beliefs:

  • Student learning is the focus of our organization, yet the faculty and staff will also be active learners in this community
  • A safe, respectful and supportive environment is essential for each individual to pursue personally challenging goals
  • The curriculum and instructional strategies will inspire and motivate students to learn
  • Students achieve their best when they build on previous understanding and skills, and apply their learning to issues of personal and global significance
  • Continual goal-setting and reflection is essential to achieve personal and community growth
  • Appreciation of cultural diversity is essential to promoting international understanding and responsible citizenship
  • The education of each student is a responsibility shared by students, parents and teachers
  • Total development of the child in a sound Christian environment established on sound ethical and biblical foundation
