Welcome to Lower School

Our Lower School aims to inspire a life-long commitment to learning, self-discovery, and social responsibility and to promote excellence at all levels of school life. Lower School students participate in an academic program that combines comprehensive, hands-on instruction, individualized attention and extensive extra-curricular opportunities. This will help prepare them for the challenges of Upper School and beyond. We pride ourselves on providing our children with a solid academic foundation, critical thinking skills essential in a rapidly changing world, and a safe haven for collaboration, exploration and discovery.

The curriculum has a dual role: the presentation of information and the guiding of the students’ critical thinking skills from memorization to thoughtful, independent analysis of the material being presented. The curricular content continues to support the Cambridge IGCSE program and liberal arts background that AIS believes to be an integral part of each student’s educational foundation. In early adolescence, students begin to develop analytical thinking skills. Using the material in each course, our teachers will challenge their students to support opinions with facts and to question the world in which they live. The purpose is to continue shaping responsible young people who will contribute to their society.
