Why join our Secondary School?

The curriculum in the Secondary School has a dual role: the presentation of information and the guiding of the students’ critical thinking skills from memorization to thoughtful, independent analysis of the material being presented. The curricular content continues to support the Cambridge IGCSE program and liberal arts background that AIS believes to be an integral part of each student’s educational foundation. In early adolescence, students begin to develop analytical thinking skills. Using the material in each course, our Secondary School teachers will challenge their students to support opinions with facts and to question the world in which they live. The purpose is to continue shaping responsible young people who will contribute to their society.

The Secondary School offers a strong college preparatory program with the goal of preparing our students for admission into the best universities in the world. Our 9th and 10th grade students follow the Cambridge IGCSE program. We are an IB candidate school, our 11th and 12th graders will have the opportunity to graduate with an IB High School Diploma. The IB Diploma Programme (DP) is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education with final examinations that prepare students, aged 16 to 19, for success at university and life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional and physical well-being of students.
